GENES-and-thyroid-hormones

Genetic polymorphisms in DIO1 and DIO2 and thyroid hormone transporters can influence your health even if you have a healthy thyroid gland.

In thyroid patients, it can also affect the way you respond to thyroid hormone medication.  L-T4 monotherapy reduces Free T3 and raises T4 in all patients, but patients with DIO1 and DIO2 genetic polymorphisms are more at risk for low T3 levels.

Search for “Genes” and “DIO1” and “DIO2” on our website to learn more.
